Diane Eriksson
I am a watercolor artist, inspired to paint portraits and landscapes. My portraits are of people engaged
in activities which are slowly fading into obscurity and landscapes where ancestors, animals and
iconography lost to time appear as if in a dream. Watercolor is my favored medium; it being expressive,
approachable and ubiquitous. My portraits speak of times-gone-by yet glow with immediacy, and in my
landscapes, unexpected images appear in the initial washes, guiding my hand in their own emerging.
Born in Santa Barbara California, living in Taos, New Mexico. I have retired from a
professional life as a specialist in early childhood education. Retirement in 2021 has afforded me the
time to explore a lifelong interest in painting with watercolor. I am drawn to portrait painting and
landscape painting in plein air and active member of Taos Plein Air Painters group. My painting journey
is new and exciting!
