DIANE NELSON-SCOTT

Artist Statement

“I began painting in oils in 1973, as my grandmother was an oil painter. It wasn’t long before I was drawn to watercolor. Through the years I have moved often, and worked out of the country. Wherever I was, I studied at local colleges and studied with many fine artists such as Robert E. Wood, Molly Haines-Kohlschreiber, Anne Pierce, and Carla O Connor.

I am passionate about the creative process. The joy in the act of creating itself. Inspired by nature and human nature, with a mix of memories. Giving voice to something that touches me. I prefer working in series, as it encourages development and depth in the subject. The desired affect is a connection to a truth.”
